How to register Pre-Academy players on COMET

This article applies only if you are an FAW Affiliated Academy. 

In previous seasons, players at the Pre-Academy age groups (U6-U11) have been tracked through Regional Teams on COMET. We have now replaced this, with a much simpler work flow that will allow you to keep better track of your Pre-Academy players. 

The following guide explains how to register a player at these age groups. 

Locate the player's COMET profile

If they have never been registered to a club before, you will have to create their profile by clicking 'First Registration' under the 'Players' tab as seen below.

If the player already has an existing COMET account (if they have played for a club in Wales before), then you will need to locate this profile, instead of creating a new one.

To do this, first click on the 'Search players' button, also underneath the 'Players' tab.

Once on the Search Players page, there are 2 ways of finding the player you are looking for:

1.) Entering their COMET ID - highlighted by the red box below

2.) Entering their surname and date of birth - highlighted by the green boxes below

Please note that entering all 3 details (ID, name and DOB) will not work.

Having hit the red 'Search' button after entering the player's details, a list of player(s) with matching details will appear. Click on the appropriate player and you will be taken to their COMET profile

If you cannot find them from the list which is brought up, please create a 'First Registration' as seen at the top of this article.

Entering a registration for the player

Now you are on the player's COMET profile, the option here is slightly different from a normal player. 

• If you found an existing COMET profile, click the 'New' button highlighted by the green box below.

This will bring up options, one of which is 'FAW Pre Academy Football'. Select this. 

Now the registration is at Entered status, this triggers the sending of a registration form to the guardian's email

The player/guardian needs to sign this form and return it to whoever is completing the registration on COMET. 

When the form is returned, find their COMET profile again and click 'Edit' on the Entered registration. After clicking 'Edit', click on 'Documents'.

After clicking 'Edit' and 'Documents', a window will open (seen below) with the option to upload a registration form. Click on the + symbol next to 'Registration form', highlighted by the Green box below. From here you can choose which file to upload. 

Once uploaded, click off the window and you will be back on the player's main profile. Click 'Save as' and then 'Save as Submitted' from the options.

Now the registration has been Submitted, it now sits with the Football Services Team / Registrations Team to process.
