I’ve been sent off in the cup, am I suspended in the league?

If you receive a red card, how this is served will depend on who you play for.

For FAW Affiliated Clubs, playing Male Tier 1-3, or Female Tier 1 - 2, as well as all National Cup Competitions - discipline is competition specific.

Therefore, if you were to be sent off in a cup, you would not be suspended from the next league game. You would instead be banned from the next game in the cup in which you received the sanction. The same works for the league in that you would not be suspended in the cup. A list of all competitions this applies to can be found below:

Adran Premier - Female Tier 1 - League and League Cup Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

Cymru Premier - Male Tier 1 - League and League Cup Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

Adran North - Female Tier 2 - League and League Cup Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

Cymru Development North - League and League Cup Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

Cymru Development South - League and League Cup Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

FAW Reserve Leagues - League and League Cup Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

In all FAW cups below, Red Card sanctions are specific to each competition

FAW Welsh Cup

FAW Women's Welsh Cup

FAW Trophy

FAW Youth Cup

FAW Girls Cup

Nathaniel MG Cup

For Area Association clubs, playing Male Tier 4 and below, or Female Tier 3 and below - discipline is across all competitions.

Therefore, if you were sent off in a Area Association Cup, you would be suspended for both cup and league fixtures, until the team you picked up the suspension with, has played the relevant number of games. During this time, you would not be able to play for any other teams within your club. Please note, you would not be suspended from an FAW Cup Competition, unless the suspension states otherwise.

If you are unsure on eligibility or when a suspension will be served, please contact us by raising a ticket, and we will be able to advise.
