How to start a competition on COMET

Modified on Wed, 23 Jul at 9:45 AM

The following guide explains how to start a competition on COMET.

Most competitions on COMET will be set up as 'Combination'. What this means, is that the league will be broken up to different elements. This is important as it ensures cup rounds show correctly, and gives scope for league competitions to split.

We would strongly recommend using Combination as your system where possible.

How to start a competition when using combination

1. Click on the element

If you don't have elements created, you can create them by pressing the red plus

2. Click Clubs then 'Add'

Here, you will need to add all of the teams from the parent competition.

You can also press 'fill', but you will need to ensure a correctly uploaded spreadsheet has been uploaded into the element first.

3. Click competition

Once you have added all of the teams, you should return to the competition tab to upload the fixtures.

If you have already uploaded these, you can press 'preview' to view them, then 'start competition'

4. Press EDIT

5. Press 'Documents'

6. Export to Excel

7. Click 'save'

8. Click 'clubs' then either 'preview' or 'start competition'

Preview will generate a fixture card for review

Start competition will create the fixtures

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • If you get an error on team names, please check they are correct and there are no invisible spaces at the end or beginning of the name. You can try to delete the last letter, and if it doesn't delete, it means you have a space there.

  • The number of clubs in the clubs tab MUST match the number of clubs in the competition settings. You cannot start the competition if they do not match.

  • Clubs MUST be added to an element when using combination.
