When creating fixtures to upload to COMET, the fixture formatting must be exact, in order to upload correctly. If there are any errors in the team names or formatting, the system will flag these up with an error message.
Once way to reduce the risk of this, is to create fixtures using dropdown lists, to ensure that the team names will be correct and can simply be chosen from a predetermined list, as opposed to typed or copied.
To first do this, we will need to get a correct list of teams that are entered in the competition. This can be done by using the 'Competition Teams' report. A guide on how to get this information can be found below. Please check this guide first, and then return to this article.
How to use the 'Competition Teams' Report when creating fixtures.
Creating the Drop Down List in Excel
Once you have a full list of the teams entered in the competition, we can start to create the dropdown list.
1. Put both Competition Teams and the Fixtures onto one excel sheet
2. Click on the fixtures template and highlight cells
You will want to highlight cells across the home and away tabs. You can go down as far as you believe you will need fixtures.
3. Click on 'DATA' then 'Data Validation'
Once you have clicked on Data Validation, it will bring up a pop-up box.
4. Update 'Data Validation' details to 'Allow List'
5. Update 'Data Validation' source details
Firstly click on the source icon, which will give you the opportunity to highlight your list of teams.
6. Press 'OK'
7. You can now select from a drop down list of the teams
You would now need to complete the Round and Date/Time fields.
You should then be able to save this document, and upload it to COMET.
If you have any issues following this guide, please raise a help ticket and one of the team will be able to assist.
